Former Indian opening batsman, Gautam Gambhir reckons that Umesh Yadav will be a good pick for Punjab Kings (formerly known as KXIP) as the veteran fast bowler would complement his Indian teammate Mohammed Shami in the IPL franchise. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper also opined that there was no Indian bowler at Punjab to complement Shami.

Gambhir also added that with the arrival of Umesh, KL Rahul’s team can rotate their fast bowlers and also utilize their overseas players in a better way. As per the quotes in India Today, Gambhir said, “They (Punjab Kings) might have to probably strengthen their Indian bowling because apart from Mohhamed Shami there is no one who could complement him.”

He further added, “Probably Umesh Yadav will be a very good pick – Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav bowling with a new ball; so, they can actually rotate their fast bowlers. If you have got two Indian bowlers bowling with the new ball, it can actually open one gap for you from an overseas point of view.”

Further, the two-time IPL-winning captain reckoned that the transformer Punjab-based franchise can pick two all-rounders in Chris Morris and Kyle Jamieson.

Talking about the same, Gautam Gambhir said, “They can have someone like Chris Morris who can bowl well in the death as well, and at the same time Kyle Jamieson so they can pick both of them.”
