In a positive development for Indian cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the contract of Rahul Dravid as head coach. The decision was met with praise from former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who lauded the move as a crucial step in maintaining stability and continuity ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
“It’s a good thing because the T20 World Cup is around the corner and you don’t want to change the entire support staff, and it is good that Rahul has accepted it. Hopefully, we can continue to dominate and play good cricket,” Gautam Gambhir told ANI.
The BCCI’s decision to retain Dravid and his support staff stems from India’s impressive performance in the recent ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, where they finished as runners-up.

The BCCI’s confidence in Dravid’s leadership is evident in their decision to extend his contract. They recognize his instrumental role in shaping the Indian team and his exceptional professionalism. India’s journey in the World Cup ended with a heartbreaking loss to Australia in the final, but their overall performance was commendable, winning 10 consecutive matches before the final hurdle.
