Gautam Gambhir Hails Ravindra Jadeja As India’s Unsung Hero Ahead Of Champions Trophy Final

India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has showered praise on all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, terming him an underrated gem who tends to go under the radar despite his huge contributions to Indian cricket. With India scheduled to play New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final, Gambhir stressed that even though the outside world might not always appreciate Jadeja’s worth, the Indian dressing room knows his worth perfectly well.

Since his introduction to the game in 2009, Jadeja has been a part of the Indian team for all forms. The 36-year-old was a key performer for India during their previous Champions Trophy title win in 2013, contributing with both the bat and ball to claim the Player of the Match award in the final.

Ten years on, he is no less important, contributing in a similar way with the ball and giving assurance further down the order in India’s latest campaign.  In an interview to the ICC, Gautam Gambhir reiterated that Ravindra Jadeja’s contribution was not just in numbers, making him one of the best all-rounders in world cricket today.

“I’ve always believed that Ravindra Jadeja has flown under the radar. I feel he’s a player we don’t talk enough about. See what he’s achieved for Indian cricket—across Test, T20I, and ODI cricket. He’s priceless, not only with the bat and ball but in the field as well. He’s one of the best all-rounders in world cricket today. In the dressing room, we know his value, and that’s what matters,” Gautam Gambhir said.

Ravindra Jadeja’s contribution in India’s middle overs has been crucial. Although his four wickets in four games do not look impressive, his economy rate of 4.78 is one of the best in the tournament. Batting, he has scored only 18 runs, but India’s strong batting depth has seen him not being asked much.
