Videos from the event quickly surfaced on social media, with Gambhir seen on stage alongside his daughter. The India head coach also attracted significant attention from fans, who gathered around him seeking photographs as he and his family left the venue under security protection.

The event came shortly after Gambhir returned to Delhi following India’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Speaking to PTI during the Fit India event, Gambhir praised the government’s fitness initiative and urged young Indians to turn it into a sustained movement rather than treating it as a one-day event. He stressed the importance of fitness in building a stronger and more self-reliant country, particularly among the younger generation. Gambhir called on people to actively participate in initiatives that encourage healthier lifestyles.

“A fitter India will be a stronger India, and the more self-reliant India will be,” Gautam Gambhir said, while emphasising that fitness should become a movement involving people across the country. Gambhir’s participation comes as the Indian team prepares for its next assignment in the shortest format. India are scheduled to host Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series beginning September 13.

All three matches are set to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The series will provide India with another opportunity to assess their T20I combinations ahead of a busy international schedule.
With the Afghanistan series approaching, Gambhir will now turn his attention back to preparations with the Indian team after briefly stepping away from cricketing duties to participate in the Fit India initiative.
