India’s dynamic opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, saw his promising innings cut short in the second innings of the ongoing first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. After a confident start, Jaiswal was outsmarted by New Zealand’s left-arm spinner, Ajaz Patel, and was dismissed for 35. Batting alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, the young batter looked solid, but a well-executed delivery from Patel ended his stay at the crease.
The dismissal occurred during the 18th over of India’s second innings. New Zealand had earlier posted a commanding first-innings total of 402, bolstered by a century from Rachin Ravindra. India, who struggled in the first innings, came out with renewed focus in their second attempt, with Rohit and Jaiswal putting together a valuable 72-run opening stand.

Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s departure, Rohit Sharma continued to take charge, reaching a stylish half-century. He punished New Zealand pacer Matt Henry with three consecutive boundaries, including a massive six.
