India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, who also served as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, has reportedly received a disturbing death threat from a group identifying itself as ‘ISIS Kashmir’. The threat was sent via email and reportedly included the chilling message “IKillU”. According to reports, Gambhir received two such emails on April 22—one in the afternoon and another later in the evening.

In response, Gambhir immediately alerted the Delhi Police and formally requested the registration of an FIR. The matter is being handled by the Rajinder Nagar Police Station, and senior officials, including the DCP of Central Delhi, have confirmed that investigations are underway to ensure the safety of Gambhir and his family.

This isn’t the first time the former Indian cricketer has faced such threats. Back in November 2021, during his term as an MP, Gambhir received a similar threat from the same purported source.

Despite the alarming nature of the threat, Gambhir remained vocal and active on social media. He condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, expressing his grief for the victims and urging a strong response from Indian authorities.

On the cricketing front, Gambhir is currently on a break after leading India to victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy. He is expected to return to his coaching duties following the conclusion of the IPL. India’s next assignment is a tough five-match Test series in England, marking the beginning of their 2025–2027 World Test Championship (WTC) campaign.
