On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court rejected the lawsuit filed by Gautam Gambhir seeking to put a stay on a Delhi-based enterprise namely ‘DAP & Co.’ from using his name for the business of its eateries and lounges.
The appellant, DAP & Co., however, protested that the tagline ‘By Gautam Gambhir’ is used for the pubs because the name of the proprietor has teh same name. The concerned proprietor is the owner of two pubs, Ghungroo and Hawalat, in Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area.
Almost a month ago, the cricketer was named a government nominee in the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) managing panel and he has made it clear that he would do his bit to “restore glory days” of the highly criticized board.
But later, Delhi and DDCA Administrator Justice (Retired) Vikramjit Sen that former Test Gambhir’s appointment as the government nominee in DDCA’s managing committee can be challenged under the conflict of interest clauses currently in place in the sport.
Justice Vikramajit Sen the media that the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs may have to reconsider Gambhir’s appointment as he is still playing first-class cricket.
