Team India was down and out as they had conceded a lead of 2-0 in the ongoing 5-match series against England, after losing the first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively. However, Virat Kohli and his men were in no mood of serving a series win to England on a silver platter as they have shown some temperament and are currently in a dominating position in the third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

After being asked to bat by the English skipper Joe Root, the visiting team has put pressure on the hosts by climbing every stepping stone successfully in the third Test so far. The Three Lions require 498 more runs to register a series win with six sessions in hand, which is a daunting task to be asking for and hence, the India team is looking hot favorites to win the game. Meanwhile, the legendary Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar mentioned that India should thank Joe Root for his generosity of letting India bat first.

As per the reports of Times of India (TOI), Gavaskar said, “India has come back in style after the defeat in the second Test. They have taken a firm grip on the game and should be able to wrap it up sooner than later. They have to thank the generosity of the England skipper Joe Root, who after winning the toss asked India to bat first.”

He further added, “In a way, his decision was understandable as the Indians were shell-shocked after the first two Tests, in which they just weren’t able to cope with the swinging ball. Virat Kohli was the shining exception, of course, batting superbly in both innings of the first Test.”

After posting a decent total of 329 runs in the first innings, Team India bundled out the hosts for a meager score of 161 courtesy of Hardik Pandya’s incredible five-wicket haul. Thereafter, Kohli’s 23rd Test century coupled with Ajinkya Rahane and Pandya’s half-centuries helped India set a mammoth target of 521 runs for the Three Lions to win the encounter.
