After the West Indies’ win in the second T20I against India, veteran cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has applauded Shai Hope for scoring a stunning century. He lightheartedly said that the West Indies captain should get his Aadhaar card made and get it linked to his bank account as well. India set the West Indies a 250-run target in Ranchi on Friday, October 9. Hope smashed an unbeaten 102 off 45 balls in the chase to help his side win with six wickets and nine balls to spare.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Shai Hope, get his Aadhaar card made and link it to his bank account. We say this for technically compact players that technique doesn’t slow you down. We say this about KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. It doesn’t necessarily slow you down. It can liberate you.”
“The way he is batting, I feel he got out by mistake in Thiruvananthapuram. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him, but he got out by mistake because, after that, he scored a hundred in Guwahati, then scored 150 in New Chandigarh and won the match in a 350-run chase, then a fifty in Lucknow, and the hundred here,” Chopra added.

However, Aakash Chopra added that Shai Hope is hugely underrated.

“The team had lost two wickets in the first over. They had lost three wickets in the Powerplay once again. Mayank Yadav had taken all three wickets. If someone hits sixes so easily and in such a technically compact manner, I mean, he is a grossly underrated cricketer,” he said.
“I feel he is not rated that much, although he is a champion in ODIs. He has scored 21 centuries. The numbers can probably be slightly better in T20 cricket. He is a super player in Test cricket. He would have gotten a lot of praise had he been playing for some other team,” Chopra concluded.
