In a joint Instagram post, Maxwell and Vini shared their excitement and described their daughter as their “dream girl”. The announcement quickly attracted messages of love and congratulations from fans, friends, and members of the cricket fraternity.

The couple’s relationship dates back more than a decade. Maxwell and Vini first met at a Melbourne Stars event in December 2013 and initially became friends before their relationship developed further. They made their relationship official in 2017 and announced their engagement in February 2020.

Maxwell and Vini tied the knot on March 27, 2022, in Melbourne. Their wedding featured both a Christian ceremony and a traditional Tamil Brahmin ceremony, reflecting their different cultural backgrounds. Maxwell also wore a traditional golden sherwani during the celebrations.

Vini Raman is a Melbourne-based pharmacist of Indian origin whose family has roots in Tamil Nadu. She has regularly supported Maxwell throughout his cricket career, while the couple has continued to share important family moments with their followers.

On the cricket front, Maxwell has enjoyed a highly successful international career, particularly in limited-overs cricket. He announced his retirement from ODI cricket in June 2025 after representing Australia in 149 matches. He finished his ODI career with 3,990 runs and 77 wickets.

The explosive all-rounder was also part of Australia’s 2015 and 2023 World Cup-winning squads. His unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan during the 2023 World Cup remains one of the most remarkable ODI innings in tournament history. Maxwell has played only seven Tests for Australia, scoring 339 runs and taking eight wickets. He had not featured in the Test side since 2017 but continued to represent Australia in T20I cricket. He was also part of the 2026 T20 World Cup squad, although he has not played for Australia since the tournament.

Away from international cricket, Maxwell is also preparing for a new challenge as co-owner and captain of Belfast Wolves in the European T20 Premier League (ETPL). The inaugural season is scheduled to begin on August 26.

Maxwell has expressed confidence that the competition can help accelerate the growth of cricket across Europe by giving emerging local players opportunities to work alongside experienced international cricketers.

Reflecting on the Belfast Wolves’ player draft, Maxwell said he was extremely pleased with how the squad came together. He highlighted the team’s depth in both batting and bowling and believes the balanced squad will be important during a long tournament. For Maxwell, the latest chapter is therefore about more than cricket. As he prepares for another venture in the sport, he and Vini Raman are also celebrating a major family milestone with the arrival of their daughter, Maia.
