Coronavirus pandemic has brought life on the god’s green earth to a standstill and the major victim of that ha been the sports industry as all the tournaments and events have either been postponed or canceled. The conditions are so bad that the tournaments like Olympic were also postponed for one year and now it has been postponed till 2021.
Now, there are clouds of uncertainty looming over events like IPL 2020 and the T20 World Cup. Cricketing fraternity doesn’t want these two events to get canceled or postponed and a lot of suggestions have come up to avoid the same as it can be played behind the doors etc. But Glenn Maxwell feels that the IPL can be played without crowds if the situation occurs but not T20 World Cup.

The governments have announced lockdown across various countries due to the pandemic spreading at a very high rate. And, it means that no one is allowed to come outside their houses until the situation becomes sustainable for the people. It indirectly means that sporting events will not be organized for an indefinite period.
Glenn Maxwell feels organizing a game behind closed doors seems very difficult. However, according to him, a tournament like IPL 2020 can still be played in front of empty stands. But, it is not the case with the marquee event like the T20 World Cup.
Maxwell recited that it is difficult to justify mega-event if people cannot reach the grounds. As per him, he reckons that T20 World Cup might get canceled and everyone should just focus on taking care of each other right now. Talking to ABC grandstand, Glenn said, “… it’s going to be hard for us to have crowds.”

He further elaborated, “I think if IPL goes ahead they can probably survive without any crowds, but I can’t see the T20 World Cup surviving without any people there. It’s going to be hard for us to justify having a World Cup when we can’t get people into the grounds. So I can’t see it happening in the near future. We’ve got to take care of everyone’s health and well being.”
