The stalwarts of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were in a jovial mood during their dressing room celebrations after the win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 49 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. After the 13-run win, Glenn Maxwell was teasing Virat Kohli as the two stars recollected the win that propelled the former finalists into the top 4 of the points table. Maxwell jokingly told Virat that he wouldn’t bat with the latter anymore, recalling the run-out from the RCB innings.

Notably, Glenn Maxwell was run-out for 3 after while he tried to complete a quick single, responding to Kohli’s call in the 10th over of the innings. Maxwell fell well short of the crease as Robin Uthappa, at short cover, ran around the ball and got a good throw in to make sure CSK skipper, MS Dhoni made no mistake in whipping the bails in time.

It was a quick single that Virat Kohli wanted to take after pushing a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja to the off-side in the 9th over. Maxwell looked distraught as he failed to score big after being sent in at No.3 to build on the good opening stand between Kohli and Faf du Plessis.

In a video shared by RCB, Glenn Maxwell was heard saying, “I just can’t bat with you. You run too fast, you run too fast. You get ones and twos, I don’t.”

Notably, Kohli started the banter in the dressing room as he greeted Maxwell, who walked into the room by calling him the ‘greatest injured player’. Virat Kohli lauded the Australian all-rounder for his bowling spell that saw CSK failing to chase 174 in Pune. Maxwell managed to scalp two crucial wickets of Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa while giving away just 22 runs in his 4-over spell despite picking up a niggle.

Talking about the same, Virat Kohli said, “That was a good win, so important. The greatest injured player in the history of the game (laughs). 2/22 in 4 overs.”

RCB Director of Cricket Mike Hesson heaped praise on Maxwell, saying that the all-rounder got the big wickets of two right-handed batters which went against the match-up he was brought in to work with.

explaining the same, Hesson said, “He was exceptional, obviously, he got a bit of a niggle. But we knew how important he was not just to the left-handers but also to getting hit to the big side by the right-handers. He has got good control of length, that’s important. The fact that we were able to get all those overs of spin before the 12th over was so important because it gave Faf so much flexibility in the backend.”
