On Wednesday, Glenn Maxwell surpassed the tally of 7000 runs in T20 cricket and he achieved the feat while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their match against the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He played a dominating knock of 30-ball 50 with six fours and one six, helping RCB win by seven wickets.

Glenn Maxwell stayed unbeaten and it was his 69-run stand with KS Bharat that set the platform for the run-chase. However, it was Yuzvendra Chahal, who walked away with the Player of the Match for picking up two wickets and bowling at an economy rate of 4.50. In the meantime, Maxwell decided to have some fun with RCB skipper Virat Kohli after the team’s thumping win against the Royals.

During the post-match dressing room chat, Glenn Maxwell was heard saying, “3000 runs behind Kohli”. Interestingly, Kohli became the fourth batter to surpass the tally of 10,000 runs in the T20 format. The 32-year-old reached the milestone during RCB’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

After the match, Glenn Maxwell was happy with the way RCB made a comeback in the game after Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal got the Royals off to a flying start. Maxwell, RCB’s leading run-getter in the ongoing edition, said that he’s felt pretty much at home while playing for Kohli and Co.

After the match, Glenn Maxwell was heard saying, “We played really well, they got off to a flier but to bring it back in the last 10 was outstanding. I felt good from the moment I’ve come here, got into a nice routine at training, it’s clicking for me nicely as well. I suppose, don’t think RCB is different to any other franchise.”

Maxwell also lauded Bharat, who played a brilliant knock of 35-ball 44, after Devdutt Padikkal and skipper Kohli perished in pretty quick succession. He said that sending Bharat up the order wasn’t an experiment on RCB’s part.

Glenn Maxwell elaborated, “Nice to be able to have a bunch of guys doing different things, instead of aligning with just one particular player. KS Bharat is a genuine top-class batter, won’t call him batting at No. 3 as an experiment. It’s working beautifully for us at the moment.”
