Virat Kohli has built a legendary reputation as a master of run-chases, and in yet another high-pressure knockout clash, he is proving why. Facing Australia in the Champions Trophy semifinal, India found themselves in a tricky situation after losing both openers early. But with Kohli at the crease, there was a sense of calmness as he guided the chase towards stability.

However, even the best aren’t immune to luck. Kohli offered Australia a couple of chances, and one of them came on the final ball of the 26th over. Former RCB teammate Glenn Maxwell found himself at the centre of the action but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity. Facing Cooper Connolly, Kohli attempted to flick a full delivery towards the leg side but ended up getting a leading edge.

The ball flew to Maxwell at short extra cover, who flung himself full-stretch to his right, and managed to get a hand to it, but couldn’t hold on. The Australian all-rounder remained on his knees, visibly frustrated at the missed opportunity.

Australia, however, didn’t have to wait too long for a breakthrough. In the very next over, Adam Zampa produced a moment of brilliance to dismiss Shreyas Iyer for 45, breaking a crucial 91-run stand and breathing new life into Australia’s defence.

Earlier in the game, Steve Smith and Alex Carey’s fifties provided Australia with a fighting total of 264. India’s bowlers, led by Mohammed Shami (3/48), ensured the Aussies didn’t run away with a massive score. Spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja contributed with two wickets each, keeping Australia under check.
With the match hanging in the balance, the question remains—can Kohli steer India home once again, or will Australia find a way back?
