Glenn Maxwell’s poor run in IPL 2025 hit another low during the clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The dynamic Australian was once again unable to make an impact with the bat, much to the frustration of fans and the PBKS dugout.

Glenn Maxwell was dismissed early

Maxwell, who came in during a crucial phase of the innings after the fall of Shashank Singh in the 15th over, was expected to inject momentum into the innings. The platform was well set, conditions were in favour of stroke play, and all eyes were on the veteran to deliver a fiery finish. However, Maxwell’s stay at the crease was short-lived and forgettable.

Facing Harshal Patel in the 18th over, Maxwell attempted one of his trademark scoops against a full toss outside off. But in a bizarre moment of miscalculation, he failed to get the bat down in time. The ball struck his back leg and ricocheted straight onto the stumps, leaving him stunned and walking back with a sheepish grin. It was yet another chapter in what has been a frustrating season for him so far.

Adding a bit of drama to the dismissal was Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran, who was seen passionately celebrating the wicket. She stood up from her seat, clapped animatedly, and her visible joy went viral almost instantly. Her exuberant reaction highlighted just how significant the wicket was for SRH at that stage of the game.

Glenn Maxwell’s dismissal not only hurt PBKS’s hopes of a strong finish but also drew attention to the increasing pressure on the senior pro to break out of his slump. With each match, the scrutiny intensifies, and the team management might be forced to re-evaluate his role in the upcoming fixtures.
