India and New Zealand are locking horns at the Dubai International Stadium in the last Group A match of the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. After winning the toss, the Kiwi skipper, Mitchell Santner asked the men in blue to bat first and India captain, Rohit Sharma wanted to do the same. However, Team India witnessed an unexpected start as they lost three wickets for 30 runs in the first 7 overs and the credit for the third wicket of Virat Kohli went to the flying catch of Glenn Phillips at point.

After the early dismissals of both the Indian openers, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli was looking to stay aggressive. On the 4th ball of the 7 over, Matt Henry delivered the ball short and wide and Kohli decided to smash it right of Glenn Phillips. Any other fielder and the ball would’ve gone for a b boundary but when Phillips is around things happen differently.

Glenn Phillips leapt and flung out his right hand, and managed to hang on to a stunning catch. The ball was almost behind him, but he caught it while almost being parallel to the ground. Even, Kohli couldn’t believe it and left in outer shock.

During the toss, Mitchell Santner said, “Looks like a pretty good wicket. Wants to put pressure on India early. Talks about knowing their semi-final venue, Lahore, where the conditions are very different from Dubai. Daryl Mitchell comes in for Devon Conway.”
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma said,”India wanted to bat first anyway. They wanted to test defending a target having chased in both their matches so far. Harshit Rana rested, Varun Chakravarthy in.”
