Graeme Smith named as head coach of Benoni Zalmi in T20 Global League

Former South African cricketer Graeme Smith is going to start a new phase in his life. He is going to debut as a teams coach in the upcoming Global League T20.

He will be the head coach of  Javed Afridi owned team Benoni Zalmi. Javed Afridi also owns a team in the Pakistan Super League and he revealed the name of the head coach in a press conference held on Monday.

Geoff Toyana who is one of the prominent names among coaches in South Africa will assist Smith in his new venture.

“I am personally passionate about creating young leaders and I believe there is no one better than Graeme Smith. He is a model of leadership and inspiration for the talent that will form Benoni Zalmi,” team owner Afridi said to cricbuzz.

Smith has been one of the legends of the game. He has played 117 Tests, 197 ODIs and 33 T20 internationals for South Africa. Presently he is seen to share his views in the commentary box. But earlier he has played in Indian Premier League too from the sides of Rajasthan Royals and Pune Warriors India.

Eight teams will be participating in the T20 Global League starting in November.
