The T20 World Cup 2024 champions received a grand reception at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport as thousands of fans gathered to welcome the victorious team. India skipper Rohit Sharma proudly displayed the trophy before the team checked in at ITC Maurya. To honor the champions, the management of ITC Maurya organized a special cake-cutting ceremony.

The chefs at ITC Maurya crafted a unique three-tier cake adorned with the hues of orange, blue, and white, representing the colors of the Indian flag. The cake was topped with a replica of the T20 World Cup trophy and featured photos capturing India’s memorable win at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

The players donned special celebration jerseys with ‘Champions’ inscribed in place of the sponsor’s name. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was also seen cutting the cake later in the day. He received a warm reception from the fans in attendance, who chanted his name enthusiastically at ITC Maurya.

 

 

 

Team India and their support staff are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi before flying to Mumbai for a grand celebration. Reports indicate that they will spend two hours with the Prime Minister before returning to the team hotel to prepare for their departure to Mumbai.

In Mumbai, the team will head to Wankhede Stadium for a victory celebration, which will include a victory lap followed by an open bus parade along Marine Drive.

Thousands of fans are expected to gather for the festivities, which are anticipated to conclude by 9 PM IST. This celebration not only marks India’s triumphant return as T20 World Cup champions but also offers fans an opportunity to share in the joy of this historic victory.
