New Zealand and Kings XI Punjab batsman, Martin Guptill, proved as to why he is an essential commodity on the field in the ongoing match against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai.
Kings XI Punjab finished on 230-4 in 20 overs after being put in to bat by the home team’s captain, Rohit Sharma. In reply, Mumbai got off to a flyer as they scored 68 without the loss of any wicket in the powerplay.
Parthiv Patel was the first Mumbai batsman to be dismissed. He returned back to the pavilion in the ninth over. In the following over, Lendl Simmons too followed Patel to the dressing room. But this was more of a fielder’s dismissal than a bowler’s dismissal.
Simmons hit a Glenn Maxwell delivery for a probable six over long-on. However, Guptill, who was fielding at long-on, had some other plans. The tall Kiwi fieldsman leaped in the air and grabbed the catch gleefully with his right hand. It looked unbelievable to the naked eye but it was the reality.
