After taking a 2-0 lead in the ongoing 5-match series against New Zealand, Team India is looking to take an unassailable 3-0 lead at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. They defeated the hosts by 7 wickets and 90 runs in the first two ODIs. In the third game, the Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson decided to bat after winning the toss. The Kiwi opener, Martin Guptill came up with a helicopter shot in the 5th over to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the bowler took the revenge for the same in his next over.
During the toss, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli announced two changes in the squad as MS Dhoni and Vijay Shankar made way for Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya. While Dhoni exclusion was forced as he suffering from a hamstring strain, Hardik’s inclusion was by choice as after getting free from the suspension, he was available for the solution. On the other hand, the hosts also made a change in their squad as Mitchell Santner replaced Colin de Grandhomme.
On the second ball of the 5th over, Guptill smashed a six over the mid-wicket boundary. Bhuvneshwar bowled an overpitched delivery on off-stump and the batsman was quick to pick it up and launched it over the boundary ropes. Guptill’s follow through was quite whippy which made the shot look like Dhoni’s signature helicopter shot.

However, on the very first ball of his next over, Bhuvneshwar dismissed Guptill and completed his revenge. Bhuvi bowled a good length ball outside the off stump and Guptill was lazy for this shot and hence the ball took the thin edge as Karthik took an easy catch. Guptill only managed to score 13 runs off 15 balls.
