Hanuma Vihari, the dependable batsman in the longer format for India, has so far played quite a few Tests after making his debut in the series against England. While he has impressed everyone with the limited opportunities he has got, he is hoping to replicate his best game in the upcoming final of the World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand.

While the inaugural WTC final against New Zealand will take place at Southampton from June 18, they will take on England for a five-match Test series after that. Notably, it was the 2019 semi-final where both team last played each other in an ICC event and India lost by 18 runs as well.

“I am trying to prepare in the best way possible for the WTC Final and the England series. It’s going to be interesting and exciting as well for all the Indian fans because it’s the first edition of the WTC. We are in the finals and we are playing New Zealand which is going to be challenging in this condition,” Hanuma Vihari told India Today.

However, Hanuma Vihari recently impressed everyone with his match-saving knock in the Sydney Test, where he had continued his game despite having a hamstring injury. However, his injury ruled him out of the England series at home. Even after his comeback, he failed to perform well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he managed a 65 only.

Currently, the batsman is in England where he is playing County for Warwickshire, and that too didn’t go well for him. He has managed to score only 0, 8, 32, 52, 8 and 0. However, he is still eager to put up a great show in the upcoming series as well.

“We all know that but the Indian team can do outstanding things. I am sure that we’ll be confident going into the WTC final. I am trying to prepare as best as I can for the WTC and the Test series after that,” Hanuma Vihari concluded.
