Hanuma Vihari Feels Virat Kohli Sets Example With His Work Ethics

The Indian Test batsman, Hanuma Vihari has had more than just a decent start to his international career by notching up three half-centuries and a century in six appearances. His only century came in the Test match against West Indies in Kingston last month, where he also forged a crucial partnership with India skipper Virat Kohli. Vihari feels that Kohli sets an example with his work ethics and can be idolized. In an interview with thecricketmonthly.com, the youngster said, “He (Virat Kohli) sets an example – on the field and off the field, with the work ethic he has. He is an inspiration in the dressing room, especially for youngsters. We look at him like an idol and someone who we can follow.”

With an average of 45.60 in Test cricket, Vihari has already earned praises from his skipper Kohli as he once said that the dressing room feels calm when Vihari is batting, during India’s tour to the West Indies. Vihari who has played in the Tests for India is keen to take his place in the no. 4 spots in the ODIs as well. Vihari; who will play for Delhi Capitals in the IPL has expected to be selected on the back of a strong IPL performance.

Talking about the same Vihari had said, “I think I fit the bill (for the No. 4 spot). I’ve got the technique. You need someone at that No. 4 spot who has a good technique and can adapt to any situation. I think, I have the skills and the game to succeed at that position.”

Vihari had shown his temperament during the West Indies tour which also earned him a place in the Test series against South Africa at home. With the home Test series scheduled to commence on October 2, Hanuma will be one of the Indian players to watch out for along with Shubman Gill, who earned his maiden Test call-up.

Vihari, 25, holds an average over 60 in first-class cricket. He has scored 6,272 runs in this format and also holds an unbeaten triple century to his name.
