Since his debut for the Indian team in 2019, Gill has been on an upward trajectory. He recently achieved the feat of scoring hundreds in all formats of the game, becoming the fifth Indian batsman to do so.

“Shubman is very passionate about his game. His hunger makes him different from other players because he truly believes in his ability and has the drive to achieve greatness,” said Harbhajan Singh in an interview with News24 Sports.

“I hope he continues to play for India for many years and eventually leads the team. That would be the ultimate satisfaction for his father and for Punjab because he is our son,” concluded the veteran spinner.

Shubman Gill boasts an impressive record in limited-overs cricket, averaging over 60 in ODIs and over 40 in T20Is. However, his performance in Test cricket has been relatively modest, with an average of around 32 in 17 matches, although he has scored two centuries.

While Gill’s presence will be crucial for the Indian team in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, the fact that the tournament will be held in India gives the team a significant advantage. As two-time champions, India will be determined to clinch their first ICC title since 2013 on home soil.
