MS Dhoni is not going to play for India again even if he has a fabulous IPL season for Chennai Super Kings, thinks his ex-teammate, Harbhajan Singh. His comments came after Dhoni was being dropped from BCCI’s list of centrally contracted players. Dhoni was in the category A during last season but has not played a single game since India’s World Cup semi-final loss against New Zealand in July last year.
“I don’t think he (Dhoni) is going to play for India again as he had decided that he will play (only) till the (2019) World Cup. He must be preparing for the IPL,” Harbhajan told PTI.

Head coach Ravi Shastri had also given a hint that there is clarity on MS Dhoni as his future will only be decided after the upcoming season of IPL where former India captain is known to give more than hundred per cent for Chennai Super Kings. While he was asked what are the chances of MS Dhoni playing for India’s World T20 team on the basis of a good IPL, Harbhajan gave a great reply.
“I am fully confident that Dhoni will have a great IPL for CSK. But having said that I don’t think he will play for India even if he has a great IPL. What if Rishabh has a great IPL? Would you drop him (Pant) from the playing XI,” said Harbhajan Singh, India’s third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.
He explained, “If Dhoni has a good IPL and is sure he will because he works so hard… I have no doubt he will have a great IPL. As far as I know, he has made up his mind. If he has a good IPL, he will still make himself unavailable. I don’t see him making a comeback. Knowing him, he has played his last game for India during the World Cup.”
