Indian senior off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has slammed the selection committee of the Indian cricket team for not selecting the in-form batsman Mayank Agarwal in the upcoming 2018 Asia Cup.
The 2018 Asia Cup will be played in United Arab Emirates (UAE) that will begin from September 15. While Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been rested for this tournament, limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian side and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan will take the vice-captain role.

Apart from the young left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed, there are nothing many surprises in the full member squad for the upcoming continental tournament. However, some players have made their ODI comebacks like Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Yadav and Manish Pandey.
It was expected that in-form Mayank Agarwal can earn a place in the full-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. The top-order batsman Agarwal has impressed with his consistent batting performances in the recent domestic cricket.
In the last domestic season (2017/18), Agarwal was the leading run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 27-year-old right-handed batsman has continued this brilliant batting form in the recent cricket playing for India A and India B.
After observing the Indian team squad for the Asia Cup and not finding Agarwal’s name in the squad, Harbhajan Singh has blasted over the selectors on his social media account.
Posting the picture of India’s selected cricketers’ names for the 2018 Asia Cup, Harbhajan wrote on his Twitter account, “Where is Mayank Agarwal ??? After scoring so many runs I don’t see him in the squad … different rules for different people I guess..”

However, the chairman of selectors MSK Prasad has also admitted that Agarwal is running in the brilliant form and deserves a chance in the national squad. Prasad has further assured that they will look at him in near future.
Prasad said on that, “Mayank Agarwal has been fantastic and has been consistent in the last 10-12 months. He is just a step away and I am sure in due course of time he will get his recognition. And he did well in all three formats in whatever opportunities he has got in domestic cricket. We will definitely look at it when we rest some of the senior players.”
