The year 2018 began on a forgettable note for the veteran Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma. He was dropped from the Test squad following his poor outing in South Africa. But as the year progressed, he has only progressed with his game. He starred with the bat as India won the Nidahas Trophy under his captaincy. A couple of months later, he scored a stunning century to help India beat England in the T20I series and the year ended with the news of the birth of his baby girl.

Following his return from England, Sharma led India to a record seventh Asia Cup title, starring with the bat once again. He then impressed once with the bat in the T20I series against Windies, scoring a century, and became the first man to score four centuries in T20Is. The stunning landmarks in the limited-overs series’ finally helped him return to the Test squad for the ongoing series in Australia. He didn’t have a memorable outing in the first Test, scoring 37 and a duck on his comeback.

However, in the third Test, he scored an impressive fifty to help India win the Boxing Day Test and take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series. And Rohit could not have asked for a better end to the year as he and his wife Ritika Sajdeh became proud parents of a baby girl. Ever since the news broke out on Monday, the cricketing world has been busy congratulating the India star and his IPL side Mumbai Indians were also quick to follow suit.

The Indian Turbanator Harbhajan Singh also congratulated the couple and also said that life starts now. He also wished good health to the newborn and said that he was extremely happy for the couple. Harbhajan’s post read, “Congratulations my brother  @ImRo45 and @ritssajdeh for becoming parents of a baby girl.. my love to the princess.. life starts now guys.. so happy for you ❤️❤️ #babygirl bless.”
