Harbhajan Singh responds To Heat after Supporting Afridi

India cricketer Harbhajan Singh recently came into trouble after the former Indian spinner pledged support to arch rival’s and former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s Foundation during the coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, the Indian spinner came forward to hit back at the trolls saying that humanity is above religion and we should be spreading love during such difficult times. The World Cup winner took to Twitter and shared a message with the fans.

“No religion, no cast, only humanity..that’s what it is.. stay safe stay home..spread love not hate or virus.. let’s pray for every single one.. May waheguru bless us all,” Harbhajan tweeted.

Harbhajan Singh’s fellow teammate and World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh also found himself being trolled as the all-rounder supported the Afridi Foundation and urged others to step forward and contribute to the same.

Yuvraj wasn’t received well by a chunk of Indian people on social media and he was bashed for the same. On Wednesday, #ShameonYuviBhajji was trending on Twitter with  50k tweets on the same. The left-hander hit back at trolls with a tweet on the same.

“I really don’t understand how a message to help the most vulnerable gets blown out of proportion. All I tried to achieve via that message was to help people in our respective countries by providing healthcare, my intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. I am an Indian and I will always bleed blue and will always stand for humanity,” Yuvraj wrote.

The pandemic spread of the COVID-19 Virus has affected more than 2,030 people in India taking away more than 50 lives. Originated in China, the virus has now affected more than 950,400 people taking 48,270 lives. The Indian government has implemented a nationwide lockdown for 21 days to contain the spread of this deadly virus.

From BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and other prominent cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, MS Dhoni, the Pathan brothers, Irrfan and Yusuf have also donated money and decided to help the national and local governments fight the COVID-19 virus. Athletes like Mithali Raj and Poonam Yadav and WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh have contributed in whichever way they can to fight the pandemic.
