The quality of Hindi cricket commentary has been a hot topic among fans, and former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has now weighed in. On Tuesday, Harbhajan responded to a passionate fan who criticized the current state of Hindi commentary, pointing out how it has strayed from in-depth analysis to excessive storytelling and poetic references.

The fan took to social media, posting a detailed video urging broadcasters to improve their Hindi commentary. He lamented how, in the past, commentators like Maninder Singh, Arun Lal, and Sushil Doshi provided insightful cricketing knowledge, whereas today’s panel focuses more on entertainment than technical analysis.
“Earlier, Hindi commentary used to be educational. Now, we hear more stories and poetry than match insights,” the fan remarked, tagging major broadcasters like Star Sports and JioCinema.

Harbhajan, who is part of the current commentary panel alongside Virender Sehwag, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa, and Ambati Rayudu, acknowledged the feedback. His brief yet professional response—“Thanks for the input. We will work on it.”—quickly went viral, sparking further discussions.

This isn’t the first time Hindi commentary has faced backlash. After India’s victory over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, a fan had called it the “cringiest” commentary ever. Back then, Harbhajan had fiercely defended it, slamming the critic for disrespecting the language.
