Indian fans witnessed a bad day as the men in blue yet again succumbed to a defeat in the knockout stages of an ICC event. Having dominated the opposition throughout the T20 World Cup 2022 campaign, no one would have expected India to witness a ten-wicket defeat against England in the semi-finals. Despite India’s struggles in the game, the only positive for the team was Hardik Pandya who kept the team in for a hunt with the bat and in the field.

The 29-year-old played a mind-boggling knock of 63 off 33 balls with four fours and five sixes and tormented the England bowling line-up in the final overs. In fact, his efforts helped India to a competitive total of 168 for 6 in the 20 overs as they never seemed like getting to 150 at one stage of the game.

Pandya was spotted gearing up the fans while fielding and he was quite determined to step up when it mattered despite overthrows and misfields when he bowled. He managed to win the Indian hearts with an inspiring message on Instagram after the semi-final exit. He went on to credit the support staff for their efforts and wasn’t willing to give up on the fight for the title.

On Instagram, Hardik Pandya wrote: “Devastated, gutted, hurt. Tough to take, for all of us. To my teammates, I’ve enjoyed the bond that we built – we fought for each other every step of the way. Thank you to our support staff for their endless dedication and hardwork for months on end. To our fans who backed us everywhere we went, we’re forever grateful. It wasn’t meant to be but we’ll reflect and keep fighting”.

Virat Kohli also thanked the fans for their never-ending support, he wrote: “We leave Australian shores short of achieving our dream and with disappointment in our hearts but we can take back a lot of memorable moments as a group and aim to get better from here on. Thank you to all our fans who turned up in huge numbers throughout to support us in the stadiums. Always feel proud to wear this jersey and represent our country 🇮🇳💙”.

The flamboyant right-hander, Suryakumar Yadav failed to get the vital runs for the side in the high-octane game. Like the rest of the Indians, the India batter was gutted as he took to social media to post a message ‘thanking’ fans for the support.
