Shubman Gill has put to rest all speculation surrounding his relationship with Hardik Pandya following Gujarat Titans’ (GT) exit from IPL 2025. After GT’s 20-run defeat to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator on May 30 in New Chandigarh, a storm of rumours surfaced regarding an alleged rift between the two stars.

Much of the buzz was fueled by visuals from the toss, where Gill and Pandya were seen exchanging what looked like frosty glances. Further heat was added when Pandya appeared overly jubilant after Gill’s early dismissal during the match, sparking assumptions of personal tension between the former teammates.

However, Gill was quick to quash the gossip, posting a calm rebuttal on Instagram that read, “Nothing but love (Don’t believe everything you see on the internet).” Pandya echoed the sentiment with a warm reply on his own story: “Always, Shubhu baby,” effectively putting all murmurs to bed.

On the field, Mumbai Indians produced a commanding batting performance, racking up 228 runs, led by Rohit Sharma’s fluent 81 off 50 balls. Contributions from Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Pandya himself made MI’s innings even more formidable. GT’s Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore chipped in with two wickets each.

Chasing a steep target, GT’s Sai Sudharsan shone with a gutsy 80 off 49, while Washington Sundar added a quickfire 48. However, the total proved too much as MI’s bowlers, led by Trent Boult’s double strike, held firm.
With this win, MI progressed to Qualifier 2, where they’ll lock horns with Punjab Kings on June 1 in Ahmedabad. The winner will set up a high-stakes finale against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on June 3 at the same venue.
