Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya recently fulfilled a heartwarming promise to young all-rounder Kashvee Gautam by gifting her a bat ahead of her maiden India call-up. The special gesture came after Kashvee, who idolizes Pandya, had asked him for a bat during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) earlier this year. True to his word, Pandya delivered, gifting her the customized bat just before Mumbai’s match against Delhi Capitals.

Kashvee, a rising star for Gujarat Giants in the WPL, had an impressive season, finishing as the team’s highest wicket-taker with 11 scalps in nine matches at an economy of 6.45. The 21-year-old also chipped in with the bat and showcased her all-round prowess, catching the attention of selectors ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup, which will be hosted in India later this year.

During a WPL fixture, Pandya met Kashvee on the sidelines and learned from her teammates that she models her game on him, even branding her bat with “HP33.” Touched by her admiration, Pandya promised to customize a bat weighing 1100 grams—matching Kashvee’s bat weight—and gift it to her. He followed through on that promise, leaving the youngster thrilled.

Kashvee’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed. Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield, her Gujarat teammate, praised the youngster’s calm demeanor and explosive batting, calling her a huge asset to the side. Kashvee’s leadership qualities and versatility with both bat and ball made her a natural pick for India’s upcoming tri-series against South Africa and Sri Lanka.
