The shortest format of the game has seen some terrific moments in the field when it comes to taking catches but it also has witnessed dropped ones which are unacceptable to the bowlers. One such moment was on display when the Indian leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal misjudged a catch on the bowling off the Indian all-rounder, Hardik Pandya.
Team India locked horns with England in the second T20I of the three-match series at Edgbaston on Saturday. The game witnessed the return of the veteran players including Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. After England opted to bowl in Birmingham, India came up with the surprise of opening the innings with Rishabh Pant alongside captain Rohit Sharma. It was speculated that Kohli would be opening with the India skipper.
Virat Kohli again failed to get going and after losing the top three, India lost their way a bit as Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Dinesh Karthik were unable to get going could not make much of an impact with the bat. However, Ravindra Jadeja batted intelligently and managed to score an important 46 for the side which propelled India to 170.
England was jolted on the very first ball of the chase as Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Jason Roy and bowled a maiden over as well. This was followed by Jos Buttler being dismissed by him as well when he was batting on four runs. Liam Livingstone walked out to bat after that and he struck two boundaries in his first three balls.
Livingstone was looking threatening and on the second ball of the third over Hardik Pandya bowled a short ball to Livingstone. The batter tried to hit it out of the ground but could only manage to get a top edge which went really high. Pandya bowled a short ball after he saw Livingstone charge down and Yuzvendra Chahal was standing at fine leg who tried going for the catch but made a mess of it and got nowhere near it as the ball swirled in the air allowing Livingstone to survive.
Hardik Pandya was visibly miffed with Yuzvendra Chahal’s effort and was seen staring at him furiously. However, in the very next over Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Liam Livingstone for 15 from 9 balls.
