After stumbling in the early phase with four defeats in their first five matches, the Hardik Pandya-led side has roared back with six consecutive victories. With momentum firmly on their side, MI now find themselves in contention not only for a playoff berth but also for finishing at the top of the league standings.

Reflecting on the turnaround, skipper Hardik Pandya credited the team’s relentless spirit and a strong leadership group for steering the revival.

“It’s the never-give-up attitude that has kept us going,” Hardik Pandya shared during an appearance on JioHotstar. “We’ve created a leadership group that includes senior figures like Rohit Sharma, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, Jasprit Bumrah, and myself. Everyone contributes, and that collective clarity helps us execute better on the field.”

Hardik Pandya also highlighted his long-standing camaraderie with Suryakumar Yadav, underlining how their mutual understanding adds value to MI’s leadership dynamic.

“Surya and I go a long way back. We know each other’s strengths well. Whether it’s decision-making or reading the game, I often seek his input,” he said.

Suryakumar, who has been in blistering form this season, is also India’s T20I captain. According to Pandya, they share a similar leadership wavelength when playing for the national team.

“He’s been phenomenal — both in leadership and with the bat. While he leads for India in T20s, I take a step back. It’s a relationship based on trust and balance,” Hardik Pandya explained.
