In a gripping encounter between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024, captain Hardik Pandya’s fiery reaction stole the spotlight after dismissing his LSG counterpart KL Rahul. The clash, held at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, April 30, witnessed a crucial moment when Mohammad Nabi took a stunning catch on the boundary rope, sending Rahul back to the pavilion for 28 runs off 22 balls, including one six and three boundaries.

Pandya’s delivery, a well-pitched length ball, prompted Rahul to go for a big shot towards deep mid-wicket. Nabi, showcasing remarkable athleticism, balanced himself mid-air and managed to hold on to the catch at a challenging height, ensuring he stayed inside the field of play. The spectacular catch left Pandya jubilant, celebrating the crucial breakthrough with gusto.

With Rahul’s dismissal, Pandya provided MI with the much-needed breakthrough, reducing LSG to 59/2 after 7.2 overs. The dismissal also served as sweet revenge for Pandya, who had earlier fallen victim to Rahul’s catch-out dismissal for a golden duck in the same match.

Despite his early departure, KL Rahul continues to be one of the leading run-scorers in IPL 2024 for LSG, amassing 406 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 143.46, with three half-centuries to his name. However, the Karnataka batter’s stellar performances weren’t enough to secure him a spot in India’s squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup.

In the batting department, Mumbai Indians put up a fighting total of 144/7 against LSG. Nehal Wadhera led the charge with a top score of 46 runs off 41 balls, supported by Tim David’s unbeaten 35 off 18 deliveries and Ishan Kishan’s 32 off 36.

On the bowling front, Mohsin Khan emerged as the leading wicket-taker for LSG, claiming two crucial wickets, while Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, and Naveen-ul-Haq chipped in with one wicket each.

In a thrilling chase, the Super Giants managed to chase down the total with four balls to spare and four wickets in hand, thanks to Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya’s stellar contributions. Deepak Hooda was the final batter to be dismissed, caught by Jasprit Bumrah at mid-off off Hardik Pandya’s bowling.
