Young England batter Harry Brook created history in the ongoing first Test against Pakistan in Multan. He achieved his maiden triple century, becoming only the sixth Englishman to do so in Test cricket. Brook’s monumental knock saw him form a record-breaking partnership with Joe Root, cementing his place among England’s Test cricket elite.

His innings of 317 not only marked a personal milestone but also placed him in an exclusive club of English cricketers to score 300 in a Test match. The first Englishman to score a triple century was Andy Sandham, who notched 325 against the West Indies in Kingston back in 1930.

Others who have reached this milestone for England include Len Hutton (364), Wally Hammond (336 not out), Graham Gooch (333 not out), and Bill Edrich (310 not out). Brook now joins these legendary names, becoming the first English player to score a triple hundred on Pakistani soil.

Harry Brook’s innings took 310 deliveries, making him the second-fastest batter to score a triple hundred for England. He fell just behind India’s Virender Sehwag, who still holds the record for the fastest triple hundred, having reached it in just 278 balls against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.

In the partnership with Joe Root, the duo accumulated 454 runs, setting the highest-ever stand between England and Pakistan in Test history, surpassing the previous record of 363 runs set by Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan at Leeds in 2006. This partnership played a significant role in England eclipsing Pakistan’s first-innings total of 556.

Root, who earlier became England’s all-time leading run-scorer, contributed 262 runs to the partnership. Brook was eventually dismissed by Saim Ayub for 317 as England neared 800 runs, taking a commanding first-innings lead of over 260.

Since making his Test debut in 2022, Brook has been a revelation, having already scored three centuries in his first series against Pakistan, which England won 3-0. His rapid rise at the international level has solidified his reputation as one of the most exciting talents in cricket today.
