England’s rising star Harry Brook has officially climbed to the summit of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, surpassing teammate and former top-ranked batter Joe Root. The 26-year-old’s blistering form in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has not only captivated fans but also earned him the prestigious No.1 spot.

Brook’s performances have been electric—he struck 99 and a duck in the first Test at Headingley, followed by a commanding 158 and a gritty 23 at Edgbaston. With Root enduring a lean patch in both matches, Brook capitalized and emerged as the top-ranked Test batter in the world.

India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has also made headlines with his phenomenal performances. With scores of 147, 8, 269, and 161 in the first two Tests, Gill has rocketed 15 places up the ICC Test Batting Rankings to a career-best sixth position. His dominance with the bat has been instrumental in India leveling the series at 1-1.

Joining Brook and Gill in the rankings leap is England’s young wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith. Fresh off his unbeaten 184 and a follow-up 88 at Edgbaston, Smith surged 16 spots to break into the top 10, now ranked 10th in the world.

South Africa’s stand-in captain Wiaan Mulder, who hammered an unbeaten 367* against Zimbabwe, has also made massive gains. While his selfless declaration denied him a shot at Brian Lara’s iconic 400*, his knock is now the fifth-highest in Test history.

Wiaan Mulder jumped 34 spots to reach 22nd in the batting rankings and now stands third among Test all-rounders—only behind India’s Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes. In the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, Mohammed Siraj climbed six places to 22nd, while West Indies pacers Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph each moved up six spots to 29th and 31st, respectively, continuing their rise in international cricket.
