Cricket Australia XI wicket-keeper batsman Harry Nielsen, who scored a century in the practice game between CA XI and Team India, expressed his delight after his team managed to frustrate visitors with a mammoth batting effort during the sole tour match ahead of the first Test later this week.

Expressing his happiness, Nielsen said, “I think they were getting a bit grumpy, which was pleasing us. With an eye towards the first Test, we were sort of trying to keep them out there as long as we could and help the Test team out. I think we did our job beautifully batting for (151.1) overs. I bet they certainly didn’t plan on that, but they should’ve bowled us out. We were never going to declare, (hoping to) get plenty of overs into their quicks, and wear them out a bit. Hopefully, we’ve done (Australia) a favor and they can cash in Adelaide,” he added.

However, Indian opener Murali Vijay refused to pay any heed to such a viewpoint, stating that they were not affected by the scenario. Vijay further elaborated that the visitors were attempting to experiment on the pitch rather than looking to restrict their opponents.

Vijay explained, “That’s why we’re here. We prepared our mindset to play four-day cricket. Our bowlers had a good stint today and hopefully, that helped them out and their practices. We’re looking forward to going to Adelaide and taking it from there.”

The first Test between India and Australia is all set to take place on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.

It can be mentioned here that the lower order of England kept on troubling India in the series earlier this year and Virat Kohli’s men eventually lost games despite being an advantage. Something similar took place during the practice game as well.
