Harshal Patel produced a moment of brilliance on Thursday (March 27), plucking a sensational diving catch to dismiss Ayush Badoni in the IPL 2025 clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The game was already tilting heavily in LSG’s favor when Harshal Patel showcased his fielding prowess.

While his effort may not have drastically altered the outcome, it gave SRH a slim hope of an improbable comeback. The crucial moment came on the last ball of the 13th over, bowled by Adam Zampa. Badoni, batting on 6 off 5, attempted a slog sweep against a well-flighted googly. However, he mistimed it completely, sending the ball high into the night sky towards deep mid-wicket.

Initially, it appeared as though the ball would land safely in no man’s land. But Harshal Patel had other ideas. The SRH pacer sprinted in, kept his eyes locked on the ball, and executed a spectacular low diving catch, inches above the ground.

Despite Patel’s heroics, the match was firmly in LSG’s grasp. At 154/4 in just 13 overs while chasing 191, the Lucknow franchise had already dismantled SRH’s bowling attack.

LSG endured an early setback with Aiden Markram falling cheaply for just 1. However, Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh turned the game on its head with a brutal 116-run stand. Pooran was the driving force, smashing 70 off just 26 balls, hammering six fours and six towering sixes. Marsh complemented him with a well-constructed 52 off 31 deliveries.
Earlier, SRH had recovered from a shaky start to post a fighting total of 190/9, but LSG’s aggressive approach left them with little chance of staging a comeback.
