Harshit Rana has been an outstanding player for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2024 and a great contributor to the franchise’s emergence as the title winner. There were 19 wickets in 13 matches in the tournament, and for that, he became part of the joint-fourth top wicket-takers list.

Such has been his performance that Harshit was also included in the T20I squad for India’s series against Zimbabwe in July and then made it to the ODI team for a three-match series against Sri Lanka in August. Though he did not feature in either of the two series’ playing XI’s.

Harshit Rana continued his hot streak as he performed spectacularly for Delhi in the Duleep Trophy as well as the Ranji Trophy. On October 25, he received his maiden Test call-up, being named in India’s 18-member squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia.

The 22-year-old was thrilled about the prospect of representing India in any format, as he said in a recent interview with the Indian Express: “The team management is looking after my workload.” All I want is to play for India, whether it’s in T20s, ODIs, or Test matches. I consider myself a three-format bowler,” he said.

Currently, Harshit Rana is one of four reserve players for the ongoing Test series between India and New Zealand. He called traveling and training with the Indian team a significant learning opportunity.

“Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma asked me to focus on my length. Bowling to them is completely different from what I have experienced before. They train with the same intensity in the nets as they do in matches. Once you bowl at them, it feels like you are in a match situation,” he shared. He also had many important conversations with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj about bowling length in Australia, which made his preparations all the more enriching.
