Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been awarded a warm felicitation from Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for being in India’s victorious 2024 T20 World Cup team. The Chief Minister felicitated Chahal with a shawl and an idol and personally congratulated the Indian spinner for the victory. Although he was part of the 15-man squad, Chahal never figured in any match during India’s unbeaten campaign.
India made it to the Super 8 on a New York surface that really was tricky, making the pacers get the better of it, thus changes in the playing XI happened. In West Indies, in more dual-faced pitches, Kuldeep Yadav got the nod ahead of Chahal in the lineup. In came the ‘Chinaman’ spinner Kuldeep Yadav in place of Mohammed Siraj, and he turned out to be a match-winner with 10 wickets from five matches at an excellent economy rate of 6.95.

These strategic decisions by India, along with some brilliant performances, thus paid off totally as they became the first-ever team to win the T20 World Cup without a single loss, defeating South Africa in the final in Barbados. This victory ended India’s 13-year-long ICC World Cup drought. The team arrived in New Delhi last week to a hero’s welcome.
