Pakistan fast-bowler Hasan Ali has expressed his eagerness to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), acknowledging the league’s global appeal and financial rewards. In an interview with Samaa TV, Ali acknowledged the IPL’s allure, stating, “IPL is a big league, it has a lot of money and glamour, and every player wants to be a part of it.”

While acknowledging the political complexities that prevent Pakistani players from participating in the IPL, Ali maintained his aspiration to play in the league if given the opportunity. He remarked, “It’s not like no one wants to play. But obviously, we can’t play there for reasons I don’t want to talk about, everyone knows.”

Ali’s comments come after he made a significant impact in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, filling in as an injury replacement for young pace sensation Naseem Shah. Ali finished the tournament with an impressive nine wickets in six matches, showcasing his bowling prowess on the grand stage.

The Pakistani pacer also featured in the 2019 World Cup, but the team’s overall performance fell short of expectations, failing to secure a top-four spot. Ali, along with the Pakistan squad, will now embark on a three-match Test series against Australia, commencing on December 14, 2023.

Pakistan’s leadership structure has undergone changes, with Shan Masood taking over as captain for the red-ball format. Babar Azam, the previous captain, stepped down following Pakistan’s disappointing World Cup campaign. Shaheen Afridi has been appointed as the new T20 skipper, while the announcement for the new ODI captain is pending.
