Team India’s T20I vice-captain Tilak Varma has said that the team needs to work on a few things in the bowling department heading into the New Zealand series as well. He, however, picked Team India’s batting and the performance of youngsters as the positives from the 2-2 draw against the West Indies as well, after the fifth T20I match between India and the West Indies ended in no result.

Speaking at a press conference, Varma said: “In the batting, every game we have scored 200-plus. That is a big positive as a team. We haven’t got a proper all-rounder in the team. We have changed between Nitish [Reddy] and [Shivam] Dube. Both have done decently well. Nitish scored crucial runs [in Hyderabad]. Unfortunately, we lost the game, but that is a good sign for the team. A youngster coming in and playing that crucial cameo. Also, Naman [Dhir] bowling under pressure against the West Indies big guns. There are a few good points. As a team, we have to introspect a few things in the bowling. Hopefully, we will do well in the coming New Zealand series.”

Sharing his views on Naman Dhir, Varma added that he is someone who has the ability to bat in the lower order as well as the middle order.

“He also bats in the lower order. It’s too early to judge where he can bat, but he has the skills. We know how talented he is. Hopefully, he can come up with good cameos for the team wherever he bats,” he concluded.
