Former Indian player Kris Srikkanth praised young pace bowler Mayank Yadav for his stunning show with the ball in the opening T20I against Zimbabwe at Harare on July 23. Playing his first game for India since 2024, he registered a match-winning spell of 2/18 in four overs as well. Mayank’s heroics helped India restrict Zimbabwe to 125/7 in 20 overs before
Indian batters chased down the total with ease in the 14th over as well.

Talking about Mayank Yadav, Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, Cheeky Cheeka, “It was good to see Mayank Yadav back to his best because he has done well in his limited international and IPL career. He has even singlehandedly won matches for his side against RCB. Mayank Yadav can do with his bowling what Vaibhav Suryavanshi can do with the bat for India. He is generating good pace. But I just hope he doesn’t keep getting injured.”

Kris Srikkanth also called the ongoing T20I series against Zimbabwe crucial for Team India to develop the next battery of fast bowlers as well. Apart from Mayank Yadav, the other two pacers, Prince Yadav and Ashok Sharma, also impressed in the
series opener against Zimbabwe as well. Prince finished with stunning figures of 2/19 in four overs as well.

“I recently interacted with a few fans, who were genuinely worried about India’s bowling if Bumrah isn’t there. If so many fans are observing it, that means it’s a fact. So this Zimbabwe series is crucial for India to develop a few pacers. Mayank Yadav aside, Prince Yadav was also impressive. Ashok Sharma was just average even though he generated high speeds,” Kris Srikkanth concluded.
