Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid supported out-of-form Virat Kohli amidst his poor form with the bat in the T20 World Cup 2024 following India’s victory over England in the semi-final against England at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday (June 27) as well.

While India are still unbeaten in the mega event, Virat Kohli’s poor form with the bat is a matter of concern as well. He is the highest-run-getter in the history of T20 World Cups but has struggled to score in the mega event with just 75 runs in seven matches so far as well. However, captain Rohit Sharma backed him, saying that Kohli had saved his best for last.

“Virat Kohli is a class player, all players go through this, he is a big match player, the intent is there and probably he is waiting for the final,” said Rohit in a post-match presentation.

Meanwhile, Team India head coach Rahul Dravid also said the same in a post-match chat and predicted a big score from Virat Kohli against South Africa in the final as well.

“You know with Virat, the thing is, when you play a slightly high risk brand of cricket there can be times when it doesn’t come off. Even today, I thought he hit a really good 6 to set the tempo but he was just unlucky that the ball seamed a little bit more. But I love the intent, I love the way he went about doing it. It sets a good example for the group as well if he’s willing to do it. And you know, for some reason, I don’t want to jinx it but I think there’s a big one coming up. I’m just loving his attitude and that he’s committing himself on the field – I think he deserves it,” said Dravid to Star Sports.
