Former India wicket-keeper batter Deep Dasgupta opined on why Kuldeep Yadav did not bowl on the team’s first day of training in Sri Lanka, and instead spent time in the nets working on his batting as well. The left-arm spinner, likely to play a key role in the upcoming two-match Test series as well.

Kuldeep Yadav, who has not played for India since the one-off Test against Afghanistan in June, recently played with Yorkshire in county cricket.

“He has come in after playing some 50-over cricket in the county. He played a few matches for Yorkshire, so he has played a lot of matches in a short span. So, he has bowled a lot and he has done well too. He must be a bit tired, so that is why he is being given a break, I think. We all know how important the batting contribution will be when he bats at either No.8 or No.9. So, he might not bowl for a while, but I am sure he will bowl soon,” he said on his YouTube channel.

Kuldeep Yadav had a long run with the bat during his recent stint with Yorkshire as well. He also scored an unbeaten 12-ball 22 in the win over Sussex, along with other handy cameos as well.
