Delhi Capitals fast-bowler Ishant Sharma has opined on his friendship with former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, saying that he is the same West Delhi boy whenever they meet. However, Kohli is enjoying a successful IPL 2023 season and he is also the fourth-highest run-scorer in the competition so far as well. While speaking on the Delhi Capitals Podcast, Sharma said that not many have seen Kohli’s West Delhi phase as well while narrating an incident from their time playing Under-17 cricket.
“Virat Kohli is very nice and sophisticated now. Not many have seen his West Delhi phase. We used to play Under-17s together in Kolkata and of course we did not have much money. There we would eat egg rolls and have soft drinks after practice, and enjoy it. I’ve seen that side of Virat,” said Sharma.
He further added that Kohli is still the same West Delhi boy whenever he meets him and also claimed that only they can understand their sense of humour as well. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was also seen breaking out into laughter while having a candid chat with Ishant Sharma and Axar Patel after their IPL 2023 match.
“Now also, he’s been a captain and is all sophisticated but he is still the same West Delhi boy whenever he meets me. My house is in Patel Nagar and he lives in Mirabagh, both the places are close by. Only we can understand our sense of humor. There are so many funny reels made on the internet that only Virat and I can understand,” Ishant Sharma concluded.
