The Australia One-Day Cup Final which was played between New South Wales and Western Australia, saw a brilliant effort on the field by the 30-year-old Hilton Cartwright. New South Wales, after losing wickets on regular intervals was struggling to chase down the otherwise low total of 225 runs in the Final.

However, Moises Henriques had held on one end with his sensible batting and was carrying all the hopes of his side alone. Hilton Cartwright though had other plans as he went soaring to catch a screamer off Henriques’ bat.

It happened in the 45th over, until when Henriques was all patient with his shot selection. The NSW all-rounder had anchored the entire innings though he didn’t have much support from the other end. However, he was having a good partnership with Ben Dwarshuis who, at that particular time, was batting well on the other end. As the part-timer D’Arcy Short came in to bowl the first delivery of the over, Henriques came down the pitch to hit the ball through the aerial route towards long-on.

Moises was unfortunate to hit the ball in the range of Cartwright who was standing a little wide of long-on. As soon as the ball was hit, Cartwright started running towards his left and threw himself in the air for a full-stretch dive to pull off an unbelievable catch.

The commentators as well were surprised by the outstanding effort of Hilton Cartwright. One of the commentators went on to term it as one of the best catches in the Marsh Cup.

The catch turned out to be the turning point as Western Australia went on to win the match. Moments before the catch, NSW looked to be on the driving seat as they needed just 22 runs in 36 balls. However, as soon as Henriques departed, everything fell apart for NSW. The tailenders could only add 3 more runs to the total as NSW got bowled out for 207 in 46.3 overs. Andrew Tye was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his bowling figures of 4/30 (8) and 8 (13) with the bat.
