The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is all set to kick off in style, promising a spectacular fusion of top-tier cricket and star-studded entertainment. The opening ceremony in Navi Mumbai is expected to be a grand affair, with popular music icon Yo Yo Honey Singh and Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez headlining the pre-match show.

Yo Yo Honey Singh will take centre stage before the opening clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy. Known for his high-energy performances, Honey Singh is expected to set the tone for what promises to be a thrilling WPL season.

Jacqueline Fernandez, meanwhile, will add glamour and vibrancy with a special performance, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere around the league’s much-anticipated start. A trailblazer of Indian hip-hop and Punjabi pop, Honey Singh rose to fame in the early 2010s with chart-topping hits such as Brown Rang, Angreji Beat and Lungi Dance, redefining India’s mainstream music scene.

The WPL 2026 season will run from January 9 to February 5, with matches hosted across Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. Five franchises — Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz — will compete in a double round-robin format. The top team at the end of the league stage will qualify directly for the final, while the second and third-placed teams will contest the Eliminator on February 3.
