Virat Kohli began his IPL 2025 campaign in style, carrying the momentum from his stellar run in the ICC Champions Trophy, where he finished as the second-highest run-getter. His tournament started with a classy half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders, reaffirming hopes of a prolific season ahead for the RCB stalwart.

However, the consistency that defines Kohli momentarily dipped in the following games. Scores of 31 and 7 in the next two outings left fans craving more. But the champion batter didn’t take long to bounce back.

At the Wankhede Stadium against the Mumbai Indians, Kohli unleashed a sublime innings of 67 runs, marking his second half-century of the season and leading RCB to a thumping win — their first in Mumbai since 2015. In RCB’s recent clash against Delhi Capitals, though, Kohli couldn’t quite convert his start.

Virat Kohli took a backseat to Phil Salt during the powerplay, allowing the aggressive Englishman to dominate, but was dismissed for just 22 after getting RCB off to a brisk start. While he’s shown glimpses of brilliance, fans and critics alike expect more consistency from the modern-day legend.

In an unexpected twist, Kohli found himself part of a public safety campaign. Hyderabad police used a clip of him being struck on the helmet during RCB’s match against Chennai Super Kings to spread road safety awareness. The post featured the caption: “Your head has no spare parts. Either on the road or a field, a helmet isn’t optional — it’s survival.” The cheeky yet impactful message drew plenty of attention on social media.

As for RCB, their match against Delhi Capitals ended in disappointment. The Axar Patel-led DC side secured a four-wicket win, handing RCB their second home defeat. With three wins under their belt, Rajat Patidar’s team remains in the top half of the table but knows they’ll need to find greater consistency to stay there.
