Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj has acknowledged that he is not at his best of form during the second Test against Sri Lanka, stating a prolonged hiatus from competitive cricket as the main cause of his recent struggles as well. Siraj, who returned to the national team following an extended break from match action, said that getting back to his rhythm in subcontinental conditions has become difficult for him as well.

“I wouldn’t say I’m at a hundred percent from my side because I’ve come back after a two-month break,” Siraj told the host broadcaster via Cricbuzz. “I’ve been struggling quite a lot with my rhythm in this situation because I haven’t been able to find that rhythm. So I’m just trying to get my rhythm back.”

“Whatever I’ve been able to do, I’m using my experience and trying to control myself as much as possible while bowling,” he again said. “Because if I think too much, I’ll leak runs, I’ll come under pressure, and the team will also come under pressure.”

With swing and natural rhythm proving elusive, Mohammed Siraj added that his tactical focus has pivoted toward containment, focusing to control runs and maintain control from his end too as well.

“So my attempt is to keep it simple,” Siraj concluded. “If I’m not finding my rhythm, what can I do? I’m just trying to build pressure, build pressure, that’s what I’m trying to do.”
